Tres Chic

My latest shoe obsession includes ballet flats with ankle straps. Very 1920's, yet so trendy. I love it. I found the pair on the top and instantly fell in love. Yes, fell in love with a pair of shoes. They are exactly what any girl would want in a pair of shoes: these shoes will become a girl's best friend. The nude color will go with anything, absolutely anything. They can be dressed up or down; with shorts or with a dress. The best part is that they will feel great on your feet without a heel. As for the sparkles, they are just too cute. They add a little bit of spunk without screaming, "Tacky!" Basically, it's your go-to shoe. But, REWIND. These magnificent shoes are Miu Miu, which can only mean one thing. They are spendy. $590 spendy. Cue the broken hearts. Luckily, I did some digging around and found dozens of cute ankle strap shoes at Lulu's for dirt cheap. I picked out four of my favorites, but there were many more to choose from. Check them out at lulus.com. I love the color blocking in the first pair, especially with coral and nude; my favorite combination. The leopard pair are edgy, yet still professional. As for the last two, they are very similar to the Miu Miu pair (except for the fact that they are about $560 cheaper). The neutral colors will go with anything. No matter what you choose, the expensive pair or the dozens of reasonable pairs, these ankle strap flats are incredibly chic. You can't help but feel wise beyond your years, not to mention classy, when you slip a pair of these on. Teenage Carrie Bradshaw, anyone?

Until next time,
Natalie

Hidden Treasure

One more treat is in store for all you J. Crew enthusiasts. J. Crew is currently running a sale both in-store and online. (eep!) The entire store is 25% off, but the best part is yet to come. All clearance priced items are an additional 25% off. In plain words, all sale and clearance items are 50% off. Spoiler Alert: The sale ends tomorrow! Better get your shopping in ASAP. I purchased three little numbers in the store today, all for a grand total of $65. I am loving the nautical inspired pieces that are both timeless and sophisticated. These pieces can be dressed up or down; perfect for a casual day that turns into a night on the town. Piece both stripes with distressed jeans during the day. Leather sandals and an over-sized bag will make this outfit perfect, not to mention comfortable, for running errands. At night, pair them with white skinnies, a chunky necklace, and piled on bracelets. Finish with an over-sized clutch and a simple pair of wedges. The navy dress is an essential for your closet year round. Wear with boots or sandals, tights or bare legs; the possibilities are endless. Well, what are you waiting for? Get shopping!

Until next time,
Natalie

Easy on the Piggy Bank

For all you J. Crew enthusiasts out there, this one is for you. I am sure many of us fashionistas experience this common dilemma. J. Crew has to-die for clothing, but their prices can break the bank. I am going to let you all in on a dirty little secret. J. Crew has a factory outlet store. Yes, you read right. The one and only J. Crew has an online factory store with sale and clearance priced items at all times. If you are reading this alone, feel free to let out a shriek. "It's your stylish little secret," reads the website. You can say that again. There is nothing better than rocking the runway without rocking your bank. I put together a few items that I thought were worthy of a purchase at this online store. I am currently loving the bright colors put together in the preppiest of ways. The green utility jacket will add just a hint of grunge to your pep. Perfect. Be diverse with your summer style. I am especially drooling over this striped ruffled cardigan. The price isn't too shabby either, check it out. Now for a limited time, take an additional 30% off all purchases with the code SPREE. So, what are you waiting for? Treat yourself to a little shopping spree. The best part? You won't feel guilty when it's over.

Until next time,
Natalie

Summer Lovin'

"Shop it like it's hot." Nordstrom's, I could not say it better myself. Summer is finally here, but that's not the only thing that's getting hot. The latest summer trends are heating up, and needless to say, I'm ready to dress for the sun. This season, I'm love, love, loving bright, popping prints that will definitely turn heads. The long, dreary winter is behind us, now it's time to start dressing with an attitude. Piling on bright statement jewelry will brighten up any outfit with soft undertones. Heavily embroidered shirts are also a must. You may not be vacationing anywhere exotic this summer, but you can at least dress like it. Have fun with bold prints that spell out confidence. The bottom line is to get out there and try new things. That's what summer is all about: recreating yourself to be the best person you can possibly be. Here's to making this summer the best one yet!

Welcome!

Welcome to Stuck in the Suburbs, the world of fashion according to I, Natalie. With a passion for fashion, I am a small town girl whose soul is in the big city. (Very Carrie Bradshaw-esque) Here you can find my favorite trends, bargains, styles, and labels that will hopefully inspire you to express your style. Life is too short to be someone you're not. Well, and it's too short to wear ugly clothes. Here's to the small town girls waiting to strut their stuff in the big city. Enjoy!
